Le rappeur Redman, originaire de New York aux Etats-Unis, se fait connaître en 1992 avec l'album Whut ? Thee album où il mèle ses influences reggae et funk à un rap satirique. Il revient en 1994 avec un deuxième album intitulé Dare iz a darkside beaucoup plus dur que le premier. Suivent Muddy waters en 1996 et Doc's the name en 1998. Il collabore l'année suivante avec Method Man sur le titre Blackout!. Après trois ans d'absence en son propre nom, Redman fait son retour en 2001, avec Malpractice. On le retrouve depuis dans de nombreux featurings, dont celui avec Method Man sur le morceau d'IAM Noble Art.

Clifford Smith a.k.a. Method Man a.k.a. Tical a.k.a. Hot Nikkels a.k.a. Johnny Blaze est né le 1er avril 1971 à Staten Island, un quartier de New-York renommé Shaolin par les membres du Wu-Tang , il passé son enfance entre Shaolin ou vivait sa mère et Long Island ou vivait son père (dealeur). Meth était un véritable passionné de comics dont il s'est beaucoup inspiré pour ses lyrics. Il prit comme pseudo Shakwon God Allah ou Shakwon the Poet suite à sa conversion à l'Islam.

En 1992 il commença à trainer avec ses cousins RZA (Robert Diggs), GZA(Gary Grice) et Ol' Dirty Bastard (Russell Tyrone Jones) qui le poussèrent à s'impliquer dans la musique bien qu'il avait déjà depuis 1990 écrit un morceau "The Panty Rider". Fin 1992 , celui qui était désormais appelé Method Man rentra en studio avec les membres du Wu-Tang Clan pour enregistrer leur premier titre désormais légendaire "Protect Ya Neck". Le single ayant connu le succès et la reconnaissance du milieu Hip-Hop, les membres enregistrèrent leur premier album Enter The Wu-Tang en 1993, Method Man est présent sur les 3 autres albums du clan mais ça carrière solo commence avec un premier album intitulé Tical sorti chez Def Jam en 1994 , un an après la signature sur le célèbre label. Cet album connaît dès sa sortie un grand succès et Tical se vend à plus d'un million d'exemplaires : disque de platine. Cet album est comme la majorité des réalisations du Wu et des projets solo qui suivront produit par RZA, le son est donc sombre et plutôt underground avec des morceaux puissants comme "Bring The Pain" , "Meth Vs. Chef" , ou le remix de "M.E.T.H.O.D Man", un des meilleurs morceaux de Enter the Wu-Tang.

En 1998 , sort le très attendu 2ème album, celui de la confirmation , Tical 2000: Judgement Day, qui contient 28 titres dont de nombreux Skits (interludes), les morceaux marquants sont outre les singles "Judgement Day" et le feat avec D'Angelo, "Spazzola" (feat. Streetlife, Raekwon, Masta Killa, Killer Sin et Inspectah Deck sur la boucle de piano de RZA), "Big Dogs" (feat. Redman) ou "Sweet love" (avec Cappadonna et Streetlife). Cet album est un peu plus commercial avec plus de featurings et les titres sont plus variés mais contrairement à Meth qui dit "Tical was the worst solo album that any wu-member dropped. I'm my worst critic", on préfère le premier.

Method Man a également sorti en 2000 un album en duo avec Redman : Blackout de très bonne qualité avec en particulier le hit "Da Rockwilder", les productions sont signées Erick Sermon et RZA. Les deux "Blunt Brothers" ont sortis la B.O. de leur film How High où ils sont les acteurs principaux (des étudiants qui fument de la "weed" magique pour réussir leurs examens). Ce film représente la suite logique pour Meth qui a déjà eu des rôles dans "Belly", "Boricua's Bond" et "Black & White", sa première apparition ayant été dans "The Show" : le film documentaire de Russell Simmons. Method Man est un artiste reconnu (disque de platine, Grammy Awards) et occupé, en effet un nouvel album solo est prévu pour l'année 2002 ainsi qu'un projet en duo avec Redman .

Ce film est vraiment très marrant. Method Man et Redman sont deux étudiants... surprenants! Il faut voir ce film pour découvrir l'université de Harvard sous un nouveau jour...

Voici un groupe que j'apprecie beaucoup, un très bon mélange musical, ils associent Hip-Hop et Rock, mais l'état d'esprit de ces latinos reste hip-hop, c'est du bon...
Donc on peut appeler ca un groupe rap alternatif... Cypress Hill se forme en 1988 à Los Angeles aux Etats-Unis. Les deux frères d'origine cubaine Sen Dog et Mellow Man Ace rencontrent DJ Muggs et B-Real. Ensemble, ils fusionnent rap et musique latine. Ils prennent le nom de Cypress Hill lorsque Mellow Man Ace quitte le groupe. En 1992, ils font sensation dans l'underground avec leur premier album éponyme. Suit un an plus tard, Black Sunday qui cartonne avec le single Insane In the Brain. Cypress Hill participe au festival rock américain Lollapalooza en 1995 juste avant de sortir son troisième album Temples of Boom qui marche moins bien que le précédent. Sen Dog quitte la formation en 1996 alors que DJ Muggs travaille sur son album solo DJ Muggs Presents the Soul Assassins. En 1998, Cypress Hill signe l'album IV puis revient en l'an 2000 avec Skull & Bones et Stoned Raiders en fin d'année 2001.En 2000, ils sont sur le dvd de Rage Against the Machine "live at the grand olympic" imterprétant leur morceau qui surement le plus connu du groupe " How I Could Just Kill A Man" pour le dernier concert de R.A.T.M En mars 2004, Cypress Hill revient avec un nouvel album intitulé Till Death Do Us Part, avec Muggs aux manettes. Cypress Hill collabore notamment avec NaS...ils ont aussi signé la B.O de "How High" avec method man, red man, Mary J. Blige, Wu tang clan, Toni Braxton, Limp Bizkit.
